Abstract

Five genotypes of Pigeonpea [Dajanus Cajan (L) Millsp.] were evaluated to four different dates of sowing during Kharif 2003–04 and 2004–05 on sunday loam soil at C.S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur (U.P.) to study the influence of planting dates on productivity of Pigeonpea genotypes namely Amar, Azad, Bahar, Pusa -9 and NDA-1, were planted on ridge on 16th July, 1st Aug., 16th Aug. and 1st Sept respectively on both the years of experimentation the mean basis, Pigeonpea genotype Azad was found significantly superior with 18.21 q/ha grain yield followed by Pigeonpea genotype Amar (15.46 q/ha) and Bahar (15.97 q/ha) at par in yield. Regarding planting dates, early planting 16th July was found significantly superior over delayed plantings. Maximum height (237.13 cm) No. of branches (20.20) and No. of pod (60.20) per plant was obtained on 16th July planting with 19.78 q/ha of yield. Incase of genotypic performance maximum plant height (237.08 cm), number of branches (18.16) and hundred grained weight (1.13 gm) wsa obtained with 18.51 q/ha grain yield of genotype Azad, while maximum number of mature pod per plant (57.50) and number of gram per pod (4.08) was recorded for genotype Amar. Experimental finding indicated that early rifge planting of Pigeonpea genotype Azad gaved higher grain yield.
