Abstract

To find out the effect of integrated use of recommended dose chemical fertilizers with organic manures on growth and yield of okra, experiments were conducted at farmers field of village Hazaratpur near Regional Agriculture Research Centre Hazaratpur in Firozabad D.P. of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur during two consecutive zaid seasonS of 2007–08 and 2008–09 respectively. On the basis of soil test results the manuarial recommendation for Bhindi was 90-60-60 kg NPKjha. The results revealed that the integrated application of 75% RDF with vermicompost@ 6.5 t/ha gave significantly higher marketable fruit yield (86.40 g/ha), which was at par with the treatments namely 50% RDF with vermicompost@6.5t/haand 75% RDF + Neemcake@3.5 t/ha. Integrated application of either 50% or 75% RDF with vermicompost @ 6.5 t/ha or 75% RDF with neem cake @ 3.5 t/ha, resulted insignificant improvement in vegetative growth and fruit characters in okra over other treatments and control. Thus for better vegetative growth, fruit attributes and marketable yield in okra, integrated use of 50 to 75% RDF + 6.5t vermicompost or 75% RDF + 3.5 t Neem cake/ha. were found better than that of other treatments.
