Abstract

Ninety six diverse genotypes of rice were evaluated for genetic variability. High phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation were observed for spikelet sterlity percentage, number of effective tillers per plant, grain yield per plant and head rice recovery percentage, indicating the presence of ample variation for these characters, Hertiability and genetic advance were high for number of effective tillers per plant, number of filled grains per panicle, head rice recovery percentage and grain yield per plant in genotypes indicating the predominance of additive gene action for these traits and good scope for genetic improvement of these traits.
