Abstract

The study is undertaken to examine the marketable surplus of potato crop in the Kumaon division of Uttarakhand. Marketable surplus is that amount of the produce surplus that is offered for sale by the farmers after meeting his farm and family requirements. The analysis reveals that the percentage marketable surplus is lower in case of large farmers (85.69%) who paid their wages in kind to labourers and the percentage marketable surplus is higher for small farmers (91.44%). It revealed that the fewer requirements of small farmers than other category farmers due to their immediate cash requirement.
