Association of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR 4) gene exon 2 polymorphism with mastitis in sahiwal cattle

Abstract

PCR-RFLP analysis of Exon 2 region of Toll-like Receptor -4 (TLR 4) gene using Alu I restriction enzyme was carried out in 190 lactating Sahiwal at NDRI, Kamal (Haryana). The 607 bp PCR product was resolved into two genetypes AA (368 and 138 bp) and AB (368, 225, 175 and 138 bp). Homozygous BB genotype was not found in the studied herd. Association of genetic polymorphism of TLR 4 gene showed that AB and BB genotypes do not differ significantly with mastitis incidences.
