Abstract

The ever increasing cost of cultivation of vegetables due to excessive dependency on the externalinputs, high fluctuations in market prices, timely unavailability of inputs have made the vegetable production unviable, particularly in small farming production situations. Agricultural chemicals, expecially fertilizers, occupy major costs in vegetable production. The scientists are trying their best to solve farmer's various problems involving farmers with their resources as active participants. It was argued that technology transfer, to be effective, should be preceded technology assessment and subsequent refinement taking account for the problems being faced by the farmers and socio-economic and bio-physical situation of the farmers. Realizing high cost and hazardous effect of chemical technological module was designed and tested at the farmer's field under their own management and resources situation. This module enabled the farmers to produce considerable amount of additional tonnage as well as revenue from pea.
