Assessment of insecticides for the management of red pumpkin beetle (Aulocophora foveicollis L.) in botile gourd

Abstract

An OFT (On farm testing) was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Surguja at adopted villages of Bakirma, block-Ambikapur on five farmer's fields for assessment of insecticide to manage red pumpkin beetle in bottle guard. Average number of red pumpkin beetles in farmers practice (FP) was observed 11.30 while in recommended practice (RP) was 4.10. The average yield of bottle guard under recommended practice (RP) was 142.50 q ha−1 and that under farmers’ practice (FP) 78.50 q ha−1. The increase in yield was observed 81.52%.

The net return under farmer's practice (FP) obtained was Rs.12750 and benefit cost ratio 2.18 while in recommended practice (RP) the same were Rs. 27800 and 2.88, respectively.
