Abstract

An experiment entitled “Effect of irrigation methods and mulching on yield of okra in Ber based vegetable production system under arid region was conducted at CAZRI RRS, Bikaner during the year 2009 and 2010. Resulls of experiment indicated that yield of okra was significantly influenced by irrigation, mulch and their interaction effect. During the year 2009 and 2010 drip irrigation recorded 13.6 and 14.8 percent higher yield in comparison to flood irrigation method. Based on two year average data, use of plastic mulch, hessian cloth and indigenous mulch increased 44.6, 30.9 and 22.0 percent yield over no mulch. Maximum yield was recorded with combination of drip irrigation method and plastic mulch. In comparison to sole Ber higher survival percentage in growth was recorded under Ber+okra production system.
