Status of black point disease of wheat in Haryana

Abstract

Wheat samples were collected from different grain markets of 12 districts of Haryana to know the status of black point in 2014 and 2015. In 2014, out of 571 samples, 307 (51.13%) samples were found infected with black point while in 2015, out of 525 samples, 389 (74.09%) samples were found infected. In 2014, highest infection was examined in the samples collected from Karnal (75.00%) and Yamunanagar (70.90%), while it was recorded highest in the samples collected from Sonipat (100%) and Panipat (95%) during 2015. Average infection was found maximum in the samples collected from Yamunanagar (0.1985) in 2014 while in 2015, it was observed in Sonipat (0.5385). Infection range was found maximum in Hisar (0.05–1.50%) during 2014 and it was found maximum in Kurukshetra (0.15–5.00%) during 2015.

Lowest infection was found in the samples collected from Jind (34.04%) and Kurukshetra (59.01%) in 2015. Minimum average infection was found in the samples of Jind (0.043%) in 2014 while in 2015, minimum average infection was found in Yamunanagar (0.217%). Infection range of this disease was found minimum in Sirsa (0.05–0.30%) in 2014 while in 2015 it was found minimum in Fatehabad and Ambala (0.20–0.80%).
