Abstract

Economic analysis of seed production in major crops cultivated in western Rajasthan has been worked out. Among Kharif crops, maximum cost of cultivation of 54532/ha. was recorded in groundnut and lowest of 27525 was found in mothbean. The cost of cultivation of mungbean, clusterbean, cowpea, sesame and composite bajra was 30425, 33973, 30552, 34554 and 33348/ha., respectively. In breeder seed production, the highest net income of 202968/ha. was received from groundnut and lowest 25275 in mothbean; however, in mungbean, clusterbean, cowpea, sesame and composite bajra it was 90573, 90527, 60048, 59946 and 84652/ha., respectively. In truthfully labelled seed, the maximum net income of 172968/ha. was recorded in groundnut and lowest 3452 in composite Barja. The highest B: C ratio of 4.72 was recorded in the breeder seed production of groundnut and lowest of 1: 1 was found in composite Bajra.

Among Rabi crops, the highest cost of cultivation of 54850/ha was recorded in barley and lowest 40526 in chickpea; however, in wheat and mustard it was 54433 and 42982 per hectare, respectively. In breeder seed, the highest net income of 128567 was received in wheat and lowest 56674 in chickpea; however, in case of barley and mustard it was 121150 and 70768/ha, respectively. In case of T/L seed, the highest income of 68567/ha was received from wheat and lowest 33268 from mustard. The highest B: C ratio of 3.36 was recorded in the breeder seed production of wheat and lowest of 1.77 was found in mustard.
