Abstract

As a result of green revaluation, there has been a fast change in cropping system, from multi-cropping sequence to single-cropping sequence, although agricultural policies support the multi……….. and multi-cropping to avoid problem related to form economy & environment as a consequence of mono/sole cropping production model. In order to understand the diifferent factors influencing crop diversification, in the Vardha district is last decades, study has been conducted using different indices alongwith a study on changes in crop area and their producting during 1960 to 2011 in the distt. During this period the cropping pattern has changed form cereal (mainly Jouar)-cotton to oilseed (mainly soyabean)-cotton and the area under cereals has reduced from 40 to 10%. After using main & common indices of crop diversification (herfindall, Ogave and entropy indices) it is conducted that crop diversification is the distt has reduced which is mainly due to replacement of Jouar & cotton soyabean.
