Abstract

The present study was conducted to screen for the presence of chitinase-42 in 80 isolates of Trichoderma belonging to three species Viz., T. Harzanium, T. Viride, T. Virens. Chitinase-42 specific primers were designed and subjected for PCR based screening. The presence of chitinase-42 was found in 74 Trichoderma species. Similarly, bioassay of these enzyme was done with two plant pathogen Viz., Sclerotium and Rhizoctonia to control the growth of pathogenic fungus mycelium. 200 mg per plate of enzymes were effective to control pathogen.
