Jhabua is a tribal district of Madhya Pradesh, in which about 90 percent tribals farmers are living and their livelihood is based on agriculture. Productivity of agriculture crops in the district is low due to low literacy uneven topography and lack of scientific agriculture information. Due to low productivity and high expenditure in crop cultivation, most of the farmers of the district sow their crops and then they migrate to other district or state for employment and return during crop harvesting stage. The major pulse crops of the district is black gram, pigeonpea in kharif and gram in rabi season and there are sown in traditional method. Due to this the productivity of crops is very low.
To enhance the productivity of pulses, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jhabua started Trible Sub Plan-Pulses with the help of National Research Centere for Pulses, Kanpur
