Abstract

A research experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2014 at ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal (M.P.). The aim of this study was to examine the effect of two stage fertilizer application on soybean crop growth and compare it with different placement methods. The soybean crop was sown on permanent raised beds under zero tillage condition. The experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The experiments consisted of four treatments: two stage placement, deep placement, shallow placement and contact placement. Based on the experiments, batter results were obtained in two stage fertilizer application. The maximum values of crop attributes i.e. germination per meter (20.11), plant per m2 (81), plant height (60.67 cm), plant weight (14.88 cm), root length (29.17 cm) and root weight (1.42 g) were obtained in two stage fertilizer application. The maximum yield (1340 kg/ha) was obtained in two stage placement which was significantely higher than other treatments. The increase in grain yield obtained from the two stage placement reflects the positive impact of this technology. This technique of fertilizer placement may prove effective for other crops also.
