Abstract

Nowdays, the trend of sheep and goat rearing has increased among the people of the country, behind which the National Livestock Mission of the Government of India has an important role. Sheep and goat rearing is considered like an ATM across the country from which meat, milk and money can be obtained at any time of the year. Maximum production can be taken through rearing small ruminants scientifically. ICAR-CSWRI Avikanagar Institute is organizing training programs in this direction throughout the year to enhance the knowledge of farmers. Through this article, various areas of sheep and goat such as breed selection, housing arrangements, feeding, breeding along with health management have been described in detail. Therefore, Indian farmers may be able to increase the production performance of their animals.
