Abstract

Some Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of dimethylglyoxime with amino acids and amino pyridines have been prepared. The compounds have been characterized by IR, UV/Vis and microanalysis. The different mode of chelation of the ligands and their comparative anti-microbial properties with the metal(II) complexes against a number of bacterial species such as Escherichia coli, Stapylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogene and Klebsiella pneamonae have been reported. The complexes showed more antimicrobial activities against the bacterial species compared to the ligands.
