Thermal measurements were conducted and the results were related to the molecular and ionic properties of the solution of strong acids. The final results have led to the establishment of hypothesis to support the mechanism of oxonium formation. Mathematical interpretation of the hypothesis shows that for the formation of oxonium in acid solutions, ΔT = kb2(Mc+ + Ma-) where the various parameters are defined in the context.
