The value of bond force constants of sixteen bivalent metal characogenides of alkaline earth metals have been evaluated from infrared stretching vibrations determined experimentally. The bond force constant evaluated theoretically from interaction potential model of Woodcock and Logarithmic model have been compared and correlated with force constant evaluated experimentally. The differences in the calculated and experiment values are due to assumptions made in theoretical calculation. The calculations show the reliability of force constant computed from bond stretching vibrations by infrared spectroscopic method.
