Abstract

Equimolar reaction of [M(sb)Cl]2 with sodium salt of Al(OPri)3 affords the hetero-bimetallic complexes of the general formula [M(sb)(μ-OPri)2Al(OPri)2] 1–6 [where M = Cu, 1–3; Co, 4–6; sb = Schiff base; salicylidene-4-methyl-1-aminobenzene (smabH) 1, 4; salicylidene-1-aminobenzene (sabH) 2, 5 and salicylidene-4-chloro-1aminobenzene (scabH) 3, 6]. These complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis (C, H, N and Cu), IR, ESI-MS, ESR, PXRD and SEM-EDX studies. These hetero-bimetallic compounds were tested for their in vitro antimicrobial activity against S. aureus (MTCC 902), P. aeruginosa (MTCC 741) and E. coli (MTCC 1687) bacterial strains.
