The publication performance of the 53 countries both from the developing and developed world is attempted to observe the share of various continents, countries and institutions in the production of publications in the subject sociology. It also identifies the core and peripheral journals to analyze the publication activities. Geographical distributions of publications is used to analyze the relative weight of an individual country in the national and international scientific productivity. The average number of publications per country is computed to compare the individual nations on the basis of their contribution to the development of the given subject. The trend analysis attempted to see the growth of publications over the different periods of time. The fields and sub-fields are grouped into different clusters based on their homogeneities to check their growth over the time across the different countries. The collaborative pattern of publication is analysed to check the level of network formed by the social scientists in their publication activity.
