Library professionals introduce a rural community resource centre for village developmental programs – A study

Abstract

The study highlights the role of information in rural development. The study may help the rural people, especially to improve their standard of living. It may also help planners to devise effective programs and policies for rural development. This study may be vital for those engaged in evolving different information systems for different purposes. It may give a new line to thought to information scientists to reorient their efforts. The major aims of Public Library are to promote literacy to the remote villagers. The list of public libraries was collected and suggested to provide guidance to the staff of village libraries on the subject of Government Social and Rural Welfare Schemes. Added to that a cost-effective model of the rural information centre has been suggested in this study.
