Abstract

Paper discusses the role and need of training for librarians in present times along with use and impediments to training. Various National and regional level institutes are providing training to librarians. Training has its impact on the librarian and working of libraries. Now-a-days lot of new techniques and tools are being used to manage the library system and with the emergence of E-resources and many other functions, library professionals are facing many problems. Information explosion, change of information sources, shrinking budgets, change in curriculum, user expectations, new technologies and career consciousness among librarians has increased the role of training for working librarians.
