Abstract

The web logs which are the innovations of Web 2.0 concept make another form of information source in modern libraries. As a recent and innovative tool of information sharing and dissemination, blogs have grown in number about over two millions.

This paper is an attempt to describe the meaning and definition of Blog/Weblog as a new online phenomenon of the internet world. The origin and growth of blogs with historical perspectives has been discussed in detail. An account of the role of blogs in the context of library and information science has been described. The ethical issues form a component of this preliminary attempt.
