Abstract

The paper focuses on the emerging challenges before librarianship in the coming days. The continuous change in information and communication technology and exponential growth of information has made the job of a librarian more daunting as well as difficult. The librarian as an information manager needs to face these challenges with modern management techniques and aggressive professionalism. This paper envisions the need to design an Master of Business Administration (MBA) with specialisation in Library & Information Management to equip the future Information professionals with necessary qualities for serving the information users more effectively. It also designs the proposed course structure combining the conventional management course with Library & Information Centre Management.
