Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to assess the opportunity and challenges associated in implementation of social networking for effective library services.

To fulfill the objectives of the study a review of the recent literature such as academic literature, journal articles, popular media and books was conducted.

Social networking holds great promise for enabling libraries to offer better services to fulfill increasing demand of the users. There are some challenges for libraries in implementation of social networking. If libraries overcome these challenges then social networking can be prove a milestone in delivering enhanced library services.

This paper give an idea about what are the opportunities social media have in delivering library services more effectively. It also highlights the challenges associated with it.
