Altmetrics provides an opportunity to measure the research and its findings which are publicly available in web-based open access avenues such as digital repositories, open access journals blogs, facebook and other social networking tools. It is metrics which is based on the social web. Altmetrics is the creation and study of new metrics based on the social web for analyzing and informing scholarship. Article gives the concept of Altmetrics and describes the tools and benefits of Altmetrics.
