Information and communication technologies (ICTs) that facilitate communication with a group of people, helps to share their experience or discuss with people having similar interests is popularly known as social media. The social media are influencing student's community with academic performance. This paper attempts to know how the social media is influencing the academic performance of the engineering students while using the social networks such as ‘Facebook ’, ‘Twitter ’, ‘Orkut ’, ‘Linkedin ’, WhatsApp and so on. The present study has reported that all the respondents 126(100%) are member of Social Networking Sites and most of the respondents strongly agree and agrees that social networking sites provide enough opportunities to promote their academic activities.
