Awareness towards plagiarism among post graduate students: A case study of Dav College sector-10, Chandigarh

Abstract

Honesty, fairness and accountability are integral part of Academic pursuits of Teaching, Learning and Research. Unfair practices like Plagiarism especially among the students are great obstacles in generating new and innovative ideas. Plagiarism has become a serious matter of concern for the academicians and researchers. DAV College, being a post graduate college and also offering research facilities, a study was undertaken which aims at finding out the understanding and awareness towards plagiarism among Post graduate students of DAV College, Sector-10, Chandigarh. It also explores the various forms of plagiarism and the one most commonly followed by the students. The study dwells upon the reasons which make the students plagiarize. It also seeks the opinion of the students to curb this academic menace.
