Use of E-Resources & services by the post graduate students of various disciplines in Bangalore: A cross sectional study

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the awareness and usage of eresources by the Post Graduate (P.G) students of The Oxford Group of Institutions, Bangalore.

The survey was conducted through a structured questionnaire distributed among 135 P.G. students in various discipline like dental, management and technology, pharmacy, nursing and physiotherapy.

In total, 113 duly filled in valid questionnaire were received back and response rate of 83.70% participated in the study. All the participated respondents are aware about e-resources. Majority of the respondents i.e. 92.03% have expressed that access of eresources. Highest number of MDS students are using e-resources frequently compare to other disciplines. 100% of the respondents are using e-resources to carryout the dissertation/thesis. 66.3% of the respondents using science direct database.

The study revealed that use of e-resources among the various disciplines was good. Users were feeling sometimes uncomfortable regarding restricted time to access e-resources. The study also reveals that e-resources have a positive impact on library users.
