Nanoparticles of Zinc Oxide have been synthesized by sol-gel method by decomposition of Zinc Sulphate through Sodium Hydroxide route. The particles were prepared by different methods (A) and (B) which differ in process of mixing, heat treatment and stirring time etc. The natures of particles i.e. crystallinity and size etc were assigned by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) pattern. The images obtained by SEM show that the particles prepared by method (A) exist in cluster form where as images obtained from method (B) do not exist in that form but appear in the form of a sheet. The particles prepared by this process are named as ZnO-A and ZnO-B. The peaks obtained by XRD pattern clearly indicate that the particles are highly crystalline in nature but crystallinity of ZnO-A is less than ZnO-B. The sizes of particles have been calculated by Debye Scherrer formula from the values of FWHM of peaks. The sizes of ZnO-A and ZnO-B were found 10nm and 7. 7nm respectively. Hence the process B is more effective for the preparation of ZnO nanoparticles.
