Abstract

The potency of Alloxan monohydrate on Submerged Fermentation (SmF) of Lactobacillus delbrueckii NCIM - 2025 for production of lactic acid from molasses was assessed. Alloxan monohydrate was found to be enhanced the yield when 22% (w/v) molasses solution was allowed to ferment at pH 5.9, temperature 350C and optimum incubation period of 6 days. It was observed that there is a gradual increase in the product of lactic acid with increasing concentration of Alloxan monohydrate upto 6.0 × 10-5M. The compound Alloxan monohydrate gave the maximum yield of lactic acid, i. e., 10.286 g/100 ml at the concentration mentioned which is 11.248% higher with respect to control.
