Abstract

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of BAP and Adenine sulphate on in vitro plant regeneration from callus in two potato genotypes Kufri Bahar and Kufri Surya. The highest shoot regeneration from callus was reported on basal MS media supplemented with 1.5 mg/L BAP and 25.0 mg/L AdSO4, where the mean number of shoots/callus clump was 20.46 in Kufri Bahar genotype of potato after 60 days of culture incubation. Present study concluded that the presence of BAP in combination with AdSO4 in culture media was the most effective for multiple shoot induction in both genotypes of potato. Therefore, the study recommends the use of adenine sulphate in combination with cytokinins such as BAP to achieve enhanced shoot multiplication from in vitro induced callus in potato.
