Abstract

As word population is increasing at an alarming rate, feeding the ever-growing world population is a challenge for modern plant biotechnologist. At the same time, productivity of agriculturecrops has been affected by various means like insect pest attack, disease severity and nutrientdeficiency. Our demand to fulfill the need of population is increasing day by day. To fulfill the samethere is a need to engage with interdisciplinary approaches to find solutions for existing challenges. Recently, we have seen the shift in paradigm to enhance the productivity of crop yield with the help of omics knowledge, tools and technology. The onset of omics era has opened many area by providing massive information of crop genotypes and phenotypes. This will proveas important tool to enhance agricultural yield as well as raising the income of farmers.
