Physico-chemical Analysis of Industrial Effluents from Parsakhera Region of Bareilly

Mycology and Plant Pathology Laboratory Department of Plant Science, Faculty of Applied sciences, M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly-243006, India

Abstract

Physico-chemical parameters including heavy metal concentrations of industrial effluents collected from Parsakhera industrial area of Bareilly have been recorded and compared with NER (National Environment Regulation, 1999) in this paper. The pH and temperature of effluent samples of different industries were either above or below the NER limit and varied from 4.6–9.8 and 9.7–40.3º C respectively. Electrical conductivity of the studied samples was found to vary from 485–1960 μS/cm, and somewhere it was above the standard given by WHO (World Health Organization, 2006). TDS, Ca and Mg concentration at all the studied sites were recorded under the range given by NER (1999). Concentrations of heavy metals Cu, Cd and Pb were recorded above the permissible limits given by National Environment Regulations (1999), while Zn and As were recorded below the permissible limits at all the studied sites. The concentration of Ni was found above the limit in samples from S1, S2 and S6.
