Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the relationship among emotional intellect employee engagement and place of work stress.

A total of 100 valid responses were collected through the using of simple random method from employees working in one private (n = 50) and public (n = 50) sector organisation from hospitality industry in Delhi and the National Capital Region. The data were analysed using of correlation, regression and t-test.

The results show that there is positive significant relationship among emotional intelligence (EI) and employee engagement and workplace stress. Further, EI has impact on employee engagement and workplace stress. On the other hand, employee engagement has less impact on workplace stress. Similarly, private sector is having high EI and employee engagement as compared with public sector. The workplace stress is high in private sector as compared with public-sector hospitality industry.

Moreover, results show that if EI is taken into account in suitable ways, it can play an effective role in reducing workplace stress and increasing employee engagement.
