Today’s organizations demand human resources that are adaptive, can work efficiently and effectively and continuously enhance systems to meet the new challenges of the growth and development. For this an organization requires emotionally intelligent managers could serve the mutual interests of his subordinates to inspire them achieve organizational goals and objectives. The study attempted to examine the effect of demographic variables on emotional intelligence and leadership styles among managers working in the banking sector in India. It has been hypothesized that there can be variations in the levels of emotional intelligence and leadership styles owing to the differences in the educational qualification and organizational ownership. Snowball sampling and convenience sampling techniques were employed to collect data and a total of 131 responses were collected from the managers. t-test was applied to test the hypotheses.
