Abstract

Efficacy of insecticides against gundhi bug (Leptocorisa acuta Thumb.) in rice (Oryza sativa) was assessed in field. The experiment had 9 treatments, viz. thimet 10 G, furadan 3 G, thiodan 4 D, malathion 5 D, carina 50 EC, calfos 45 EC, rocket 44 EC and Neem oil along with control (untreated) in a randomized block design replicated four times. Insecticides, viz. malathion was quite effective to reduce gundhi bug population closely followed by rocket. Other insecticides were less effective but were better over control. Highest grain yield of 2.320 t ha−1 was recorded with application of colfos, closely followed by thiodan (2.311 t ha−1) and furadan (2.281 t ha−1). Neem oil was least effective in reducing incidence of gundhi bug in rice crop.
