Abstract

The effect of different carbon sources on growth and sporulation of Colletotrichum truncatum (Schwein.) Andrus & Moore was studied. Growth of the fungal isolates was accompanied by an increase in pH of the medium. Maximum growth of isolates was on sucrose, followed by maltose, lactose, D-gulsose and manitol. No negative growth was observed in medium lacking carbon. Five carbon sources were used to measure sporulation. Among the six isolates of C. truncatum, sucrose was found to be the best carbon source for growth and sporulation of Colletotrichum truncatum.
