Study of drudgery involved in performing farm operations by farm women

The present study was conducted in Parbhani district of Marathwada region of Maharashtra State. Total 120 respondents were selected from villages, they were interviewed, personally to collect the data with the help of structured interview schedule. The study revealed that majority of the respondents (61.67%) had a young age group, a majority of them were illiterate (43.33%) and, married (93.33%). Majority of them had a medium size of family (55.83%). Out of them 55% had from the joint type of family. Majority of respondents (85.83%) had annual income up to ‘40,000 and majority of the respondents (73.33%) expressed average satisfaction with working conditions. Majority of the respondents (73.33%) were having ‘low’ social participation, while 95% and 80.33% of respondents were engaged season-wise and employed for more than 120 days, respectively. Further study revealed that majority of the respondents had a high level of drudgery in performing farm operations. Also, the majority of women labourer were faced most drudgery in the activities of cutting of standing crop, threshing of the crop, weeding, stubble collection, winnowing, and sowing.
