Abstract

Banana bunch cover is a physical protection method which will improve the visual quality of fruit by promoting skin colouration and reducing blemishes, but can also change the micro-environment for fruit development and reduce the incidence of diseases and insect pest and/or mechanical damage and sunburn of the skin. The investigation was carried out in the farmers’ field, Burhanpur during 2015–16, 201617 and 2017–18 in order to find out the best bunch cover materials and spray of potassium sulphate on banana bunch. The highest finger length, finger girth and bunch weight were recorded in white non- woven polypropylene bag, while lowest in the uncovered. Yield characters like finger length, finger girth and bunch weight was recorded maximum in treatment (T5) and ultimately yield in white non- woven polypropylene bag + potassium sulphate @ 20 ml bunch−1 (60.11 t ha−1) which were lowest in the control T1 (51.33 t ha−1).
