A field experiment was conducted in organic field at Kanpur during the rabi season of 2009-10 and 2011-12 under irrigated conditions to study the performance of Indian mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czernj. & Cosson] varieties under organic farming. Twelve cultivars viz., Varuna, Rohini, Vaibhav, Vardan, Urwashi, Kranti, Basanti, Maya, Kanti, Ashirbad, Pitambari and Pusa Bold were assigned in randomized block design with three replications. Results revealed that seed yield of Indian mustard cultivars were influenced significantly to each other. The seed yield (kg ha-1) of Indian mustard was recorded maximum with variety ‘Rohini’ (2791 kg ha-1), significantly followed by ‘Ashirbad’ (2566 kg ha-1) and ‘Kranti’ (2524 kg ha-1) and the least with variety ‘Pitambari’. Economics in terms of gross return, net return and benefit: cost ratio were higher under variety ‘Rohini’ with corresponding figures of 1 69775 ha-1, 1 53100 ha-1 and 4.18, followed by ‘Ashirbad’ and ‘Kranti’ and the least with variety ‘Pitambari’.
