Abstract

Critical scientific analysis is needed to study drought cum soil moisture stress vis-à-vis productive scenario. Therefore, it is the national priority to identify the drought occurrences and to be focused on its impact assessment and mitigation planning. The stresses had several impacts on the revenue generated cash crops and agricultural production to feed billions of people. Role of drought stress index to identify the hotspot and/or germplasms screening or evaluation of superior drought tolerance races or stresses on vegetation vis-à-vis crop phenotyping was given due credit. Technological innovations to sustain food production under drought or acute deficit moisture stress across globe were discussed.
