The present investigation was carried out to study of dormancy duration and dormancy breaking methods in rice genotypes. The experiment was laid out with 32 genotypes and three check variety were comprise in randomized block design with three replication during kharif 2019. The seeds were treated with physical and chemicals methods such as control, water soaked, Gibberellic acid (GA3), potassium nitrate (KNO3), nitric acid (HNO3), and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for breaking seed dormancy. HNO3 @ 1.5% recorded maximum mean germination of 80% compared to 53.25% in the control at P=0.01 level of significance. GA3 @ 100 ppm also performed significantly better than the rest of the chemicals and the control in breaking the dormancy.
