Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif 2018 and 2019 at the Instructional Farm, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, Rajasthan to study the effect of combined application of chemical nitrogen fertilizer and organic manure on yield attributes, productivity and profitability of maize (Zea mays L.). The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replication and 13 treatments. The results showed that the application of recommended 100% N through CF + FYM (10 t ha−1) gave significantly highest number of grains cob−1, weight cob−1, seed index, test weight, grain yield, stover yield and net return of maize over the control during both the years and on pooled basis. However, it remained at par with recommended 75% N through CF + 25% N through Poultry Manure in above parameters. Whereas, the highest benefit: cost ratio was observed under application of recommended 75%N through CF + 25% N through PM during both the years and on pooled basis. Therefore, in this tract for maize variety PEHM-2, the application of recommended 75% N through CF + 25% N through Poultry Manure as a most profitable dose is being recommended for higher productivity and profitability.
