The present study was carried out by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Damla, Yamunanagar (Haryana) in its selected villages. Being a leguminous crop, it enriches the soil fertility by fixing the atmospheric nitrogen. The productivity can be significantly increased with the use of the following improved production technologies. The study in total number of 75 frontline demonstrations were conducted on farmers’ fields in villages at different blocks in yamunanagar district during 2020 and 2021, to demonstrate production potential and economic benefit of improved technologies comprising sowing method, nutrient management and chemical weed control for the crop. The production, productivity and economic returns of spring moong in demonstrations and farmers’ practice were compared and different yield gaps were analyzed. Average yield recorded during 2020 and 2021 was 6.9 and 9.8 q/ha which was 25.5% and 27.3% higher than obtained with farmers’ practice (5.5 q/ha and 7.7 q/ha). Higher mean net income of 15222/ha and 42266/ha with a benefit: cost ratio of 1.7 and 2.4 was obtained with improved technologies in comparison to farmers’ practices ( 5992/ha and 28625/ha) during both the years, respectively.
