Nutrient availability of eleven years old multi-purpose trees (MPTs), viz. Dalbergia sissoo, Gmelina arborea, Pongamia pinata and Terminalia arjuna was assessed in red lateritic soil of Chhattisgrh plain during 2002–03. Maximum availability of nitrogen and phosphorus was recorded in D. sissoo, whereas maximum availability of potassium was recorded in G. arborea. Minimum amount of nutrients, viz. nitrogen (253.31 g tree−1) and potassium (201.27g tree−1) was recorded in T. arjuna, while minimum phosphorus (73.91g tree−1) was recorded in G. arborea.
