In India the status of girl child reflects serious gender-based differences, inequalities and discrimination. There are conspicuous signs of tensions in adolescence. The society sends mixed signals to the teenagers that are responsible for causing stress. The present study was carried out in Himachal Pradesh, India to understand the situation of adolescent girls with respect to education, economic and social aspect, household responsibilities, marriage, restrictions, health, food habits, hobbies and pubertal aspects. The results revealed that there is need to provide equal opportunities to girls so that they can develop their potentials. Awareness to the parents should be developed so that they develop and create environment and provide opportunities that enhance the capability of girls and help in overall development.
