Abstract

This study was conducted to select antagonistic rhizobacteria against Macrophomina phaseolina. Twenty five strains of fluorescent pseudomonas were isolated from rhizospheric region of different-different chickpea plants and were screened for their biocontrol potential against M. phaseolina. Two strains GR 14 and GR 21 showed maximum inhibition of plant growth. Both the strains showed increase in IAA production with increase in tryptophan level in culture media. Strain GR14 showed maximum siderophore production. Hydrogen cyanide production was also shown by strain GR14.
