Character association and path analysis in pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan)

Twenty eight lines of pigeonpea evaluated for different traits revealed that seed yield plant⁻¹ had positive and significant correlation with pods plant⁻¹, primary and secondary branches plant⁻¹ and plant height. Number of pods plant⁻¹ was positively correlated with number of secondary branches plant⁻¹ and plant height. Number of pods plant⁻¹ had maximum direct effect on seed yield plant⁻¹. The present study revealed the importance of number of pods plant⁻¹, plant height, number of primary and secondary branches plant⁻¹ for yield improvement.
