Field experiment was conducted at Etawah, Uttar Pradesh to assess the performance of pneumatic precision planter in okra (Abelmoschus esculentus Moench) crop to achieve accuracy in planting of single seeds at pre-determined seed-toseed and row-to-row spacing. The field capacity of pneumatic precision planter was 0.46 ha h−1. Average seed rate was 7.2 kg ha−1 for pneumatic planter, 10 kg ha−1 for seed drill and 13 kg ha−1 for traditional method. The uniformity coefficients of pneumatic planter and seed-cum-ferti drill were 86.7 and 80.5%, respectively. Average plant population was 16.66 plants m−2 for pneumatic planter which was 13.3 and 60.2% higher than plant population recorded under seed-cum-ferti drill and traditional method of planting, respectively. Total man-h ha−1 required for pneumatic planter, seed drill and traditional method were 5, 18 and 30, respectively.
